So, so nice to have the pleasure of working with a great business with knowledgeable, decent, high integrity folks. I'll go back. Situation: the car horn on my old Mercedes SL went out this morning. Drats. Love the old thing, but it needs - ahem - a lot of love and patience. My husband usually takes the car to a mechanic in San Bruno. I had no time to get down there. Looked on my phone at the Yelp app. I had an hour in the morning. Could I do the impossible and actually TAKE CARE of this immediately? And not just by anyone - but professional, honest folks who could do this fast? I know, it's a LOT to ask. The magic trio. Usually very, very hard to find. Well - Pete's had some good recos on Yelp and was close by. I took a deep breath and decided to try it. Called. While they were full - whomever answered the phone sounded friendly (and knowledgeable) and he let me scoot in (it was 7:45 a.m. and the mechanics get there at 8). The deal: if it was just a fuse, they'd handle it right away - otherwise, I'd have to schedule another time & come back so they could do a diagnostic (and he outlined a couple of things that made sense to me). whew. Straight talking professional on the phone. All seemed headed in the right direction. 4 minutes later. I park my car, leave my keys, have a quick chat - and then go into the waiting room to make a few phone calls. Ten minutes later I hear the friendly toot of my horn. HURRAH!! I see the mechanic exiting my car - talk to the fellow behind the counter. I take my credit card out. He grabs some paperwork printing and tells me the price: "that'll be $1.65." WHAT?! I know a fuse is cheap and that it took minutes, but still! You got to appreciate the honesty and good will. I asked him about the labor cost and he chuckled. I took two $1 bills out of my wallet and paid him. Too good to be true, I have literally been walking with a slight bounce in my step all day. Yes, "little things" like this can make me happy. :) Another plus: looks like I have someone I can bring my car back to - that's here in the city. THANK YOU!
